She Is Dallas: The Texas Bluebonnet Committee and the Texas Library Association sponsor the Texas Bluebonnet Award Reading List for Grades 3-6 solely to encourage free voluntary reading. On this site, you can also find resources for use with the voting and promotion process (such as “I voted” sticker labels). There are detailed instructions on the TBA website for registering, preparing for the vote and voting procedures. Voting can be done online once a site is registered. In order to participate in voting, the site (school, homeschool, public library, etc.) must be registered. The students vote in January for their favorite author. The book with the most votes wins the Texas Bluebonnet Award for the year. Then students across the state in grades 3-6 are asked to read at least five of the books on the list and vote for their favorite. ![]() Each year a list of about 20 books are nominated for the Texas Bluebonnet Award. ![]() It’s like a Children’s Book of the Year award voted on by the kids who read them.
